Structural Insulated Panels (SIP)
Structural Insulated Panels are a 21st century building material. They are a high performance building system that is fully suited to residential and smaller commercial construction. These panels are built by sandwiching an insulating foam core between two structural facings (panels). Usually these structural facings are made from oriented strand board (OSB) but they can also be made of sheet metal, plywood, or cement. The SIPs are manufactured in a factory under controlled conditions and can be built to fit many different building designs. SIPs are extremely strong, cost effective, and energy efficient and can be used as walls, floors, and roofs. A structural insulated panel construction system can save you more than 50 percent on your heating and cooling bills, help you qualify for energy efficient mortgages and reduced insurance rates, and provide you with a stronger, cleaner living environment. They are extremely useful when building energy efficient custom homes.
Soft Spray Foam Insulation
A soft spray foam insulation and air barrier will help protect residential and commercial buildings from energy-robbing air leakage and dramatically improve the energy efficiency of the structure. It is a flexible insulation that will adhere to the interior walls and eliminate air gaps within the walls. Additional benefits are a reduction in airborne sounds, greater design freedom, and improved indoor air quality. This insulation does not shrink, sag, or settle. The soft spray foam insulation creates a seamless air-seal that acheives much better results than conventional insulation and can offer potential energy savings of up to 50% every month.
The use of Light Tubes is a concept that was originally developed by the ancient Egyptians. It is a simple concept – transporting or distributing natural or artificial light to locations within a structure. Today the concept has been refined using reflective surfaces for the light tube or light pipe. They can help homeowners and commercial building owners save energy by reducing the need for daytime electrical lighting and taking advantage of natural light.
Tankless Water Heaters
A tankless water heater, also called Instantaneous or Demand Water Heater, provides hot water only when it is needed. Traditional water heaters store hot water in a tank and keep it hot 24 hours a day, every day. A tankless water heater is much more energy efficient because the water is heated only when the user needs some hot water. There is no tank with 30 or 40 or 50 gallons of water being reheated 24 hours per day. A tankless water heater will reduce energy costs while providing a continuous flow of hot water on demand.
